The true voice of the Egyptian youth...the oppressed youth
The Egyptian President meets with a selected group of youth in recurring elegantly organised forums. The objective is to give the impression that young people can discuss and even oppose the president thus promoting the fallacy that the President cares about young people and welcomes disagreements and opposition.
Staged sessions and articulated talks take place in those conferences within an impressive and extravagant set up, where every participant skillfully plays his preset role. While this may fool some people, it is obvious that those participants do not represent the Egyptian youth. The public knows very well that these conferences represent one voice and one vision, that of President Sissi.
It is common knowledge that those young people in their elegant suits are selected from the President's youth program and some political parties based on loyalty under the pretence of prevailing democracy and free opposition.
To make these forum truthful and representative of reality; we, a group of youth from various backgrounds, realise the importance of participation of the real Egyptian youth. The depressed and oppressed youth who are not allowed to participate in public work or express their opinions. The youth who are imprisoned and tortured because they have a different vision and do not accept the violations to their country's land, security, independence, economy, culture and heritage.
We realise that it's our obligation to present the voice of the oppressed youth so that the public understands that, apart from those staged conferences, the youth in reality are deprived of their freedom of speech and political participation. There are also thousands of families who are suffering from the absence of their children only because they attempted to express themselves and opposed the President's policies.
We are organizing The Real Youth Peace Forum on the Internet: #OurYouthForum
As freedom of assembly and expression is oppressed, the Internet remains the only outlet available for expression of opinion and true opposition.
Inspite of the risks and consequences of this approach, we chose the Internet to be the platform for organising the real youth conference as an outlet for the youth to express their free opinion and their vision for reform without pretentious loyalty and well suited loyal followers who attend to applaud anything the President says.
The real youth peace forum on the Internet titled #OurYouthForum extends an open invitation to all Egyptian youth to participate and freely express their views because peace means coexistence inspite of differences. Peace does not exist with one voice. Peace does not prevail with imprisonment, blocking, coersion and discrimination against others. Peace prevails with coexistence inspite of our differences not with imprisonment and torture of the weak by the powerful.
We are the voice when you seek to silence everyone.
